Scairy Tales available IN STORES NOW!!8/24/2014 J.R Mounts has been writing about Vegetable mafias pea shooting pickled detectives, strange kids, and crazy creatures for quite some time. One of his books "Scairy Tales" is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a big release. When I first started reading the comic back in 2012 I fell in love with the characters. One of my favorites was Gus in a shark suite and Ragady Dan the scare crow anchorman. It was awesome to see my scripts and stories of my characters come to life.

Here is a sneak peek :) Talking smack with Kincaid8/8/2014 You ever wonder about actors from your favorite 80's and 90's movies. When I watched A Nightmare On Elm Street my favorite film of the franchise was not the first movie but third and fourth. Dream Warriors and Dream Master were awesome movies !! The group of kids that all shared the same dream end up in a nut house but thanks to someone with a little extra kick these kids possessed special abilities in the dream world against Freddy. One of my favorite character besides Joey and Alice was Roland Kincaid. Kincaid was just a bad ass!!! Well fast forward to late yesterday I came across someone that looked like Kincaid on Facebook named Ken Sagoes and decided to explore his profile a little bit and come to find IT WAS THE ACTOR THAT PLAYED KINCAID. So added him as a friend on my page and he shot me a message asking for support on his kick starter for his short film. We talked a little about his short story and found out He is actually from Georgia. He talked about how he used to come down to the Macon/Warner Robins area with family and go fishing. It made my day!! But I have to say that his short film "The Secret Weapon" is going to be amazing. So if you have time check out his kick starter for the project and be amazed. The story focuses on a different aspect of The Civil Rights Movement. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1073418353/the-secret-weapon.
The Guardians Vs The Avengers8/5/2014 So over the past weekend I was in West Virginia visiting family and since we arrived there temptation had me all giddy and filled with joy. Most hotels have some decent place to eat at near by and maybe some little shopping centers as well. THIS HOTEL HAD A MOVIE THEATER RIGHT BESIDE IT!! So on the next last day I decided to make a trip over there to see Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now I must admit most Marvel movies Ive seen have been because of my fandom towards the comics but Guardians really never appealed to me in comic form. I checked a few one shots of Rocket Racoon and flipped some pages from an older GOTG issue but I just couldn't get into it. The movie however looked like fun so as a fan of Marvel Studios I decided to give it a shot. Walking into the theater a guy around my age roughly in his mid to late 20's was talking to a friend that GOTG and he quote " Man! It was better than the Avengers!" And I was thinking "Wow! Maybe Marvel packed this movie with a big budget, cameos, and explosions to make a terrorist bombing look like a child's firework show." So it me excited going into it. After watching it I decided that dude was all wrapped up in the shiny toy syndrome. Its like having a favorite toy and then the next toy you get is your "real favorite toy" and the other one gets the can. So personally I had to disagree with his opinion. Below I broke my opinion of Guardians and my opinion of which fiml I thought was better and why. Guardians Of The Galaxy WHAT I LOVED First off Starlords Mixtapes were super bad ass through out the film giving a soundtrack a much different vibe from Marvel's Typical and Heroic Orchestrated Battle Hymns. The cast was great and I really wish I could be Vin Diesal right now knowing that guy made bank from this film by simply voicing a cgi character and only saying 1 to 4 words. Besides our Guardians some other awesome and familiar cast were John C Riley who was known for being Will Ferrell partner in crime in Step Brothers and Taledega Nights. There a few more I knew by face but couldnt remember thier names and I dont feel like looking them up :-/. The film had a good story and was filled with non stop action through out the film. AND THANOS!! WHAT I DISLIKED I was hoping Thanos to have more scenes :(. Groot needed a bigger vocabulary. OVERALL I enjoyed it. I don't think it was the greatest Marvel film but it was pretty up there considering Marvel's vision to expand the universe of comics into the big screen. It wasn't the typical single heroed film about saving New York City. The film was filled with a whole lot of Sci -Fi which was the reason the comic never appealed to me. But as a movie I can say it was enjoyable and will be another blu ray for the collection. AVENGERS VS GUARDIANS The avengers was filled with Iconic Super Heroes and each character had there own film building up to getting the gang together. The Avengers release was under Development for almost a decade and took about 6 years to assemble the crew on film. The Guardians film was announced at last years or year before at Comic Con International and then up on the big screen around 2 years after announcing the project. IN MY OPINION and IF I HAD TO CHOOSE The Avengers was a dream team on film that delivered 110% and Guardians was a good film to kick off the evolution of Marvel's cinematic universe. I think THE AVENGERS was a better film hands down for the reasons I listed above. What do you think? I can't say I had a bad child hood. It was great but the older you get the more things you understand. For example. My dad worked on the local Air Force Base producing sheet meta for air planes l. Not very often does his job require him to go out of town or TDY. Sometimes my dad would just up and leave after an argument in the middle of the night . I wake up from the yelling and stayed in my bed . My mom would tell him to go while she cried and yelled in frustration. She would tell us later that people fight and that he had to leave for work and will be gone for a while. Not the truth being he lost his fight against drug addiction and ran off for weeks to get his fix. The older I got the more my parents fought and brought me into the arguments. Through there anger and frustration they told me things about each other family members that made me feel uncomfortable and eventually depressed. Ways to end the arguing and harassing passed through my thoughts sometimes such as suicide or cutting my wrist. I was ashamed of talking to people about my problems because I felt like they were burdens. I couldn't have friends over like a normal teen and couldn't catch rides to parties and get togethers because of the way my parents treated each other and themselves. Eventually at some point during that time I was introduced to the punk, hardcore, emo, screamo music scenes. I poured my heart felt frustrations into every song lyric that came off their lips singing along and clinching my fist. I became more passionate about bands like senses fail, allister, matchbook romance and there message. And that was in my opinion To Defend your Heart and fight back on what has you down. Off and on in my life I played in punk and metal bands for the rush but felt nothing like it when I picked up a notebook and wrote song lyrics and poetry influenced by my favorite bands and my situations at home. I felt better after it was all said and done.To this day I still go to the same notebook but with different troubles. I moved on in life living and learning. I took a step towards closure with my past and decided to release the poems in a series called the stupid nerdy notebook. We all have troubles and there is always someone who has been through what you're going through. Talk to someone. It's better to get it all out before gets you. |
